Kalkee Footy Tipping Party.
On Tuesday the 7th of September we had to organize a footy tipping party for Kalkee to announce the winners for the footy tipping.
Jesse came first, Karen came second, and Max came third.
We did a quiz and showed a footy dvd.
Everyone loved it and enjoyed themselves.
We gave out prizes like chocolate, hats and banners.
Mr Lynch took us to get the target thing to throw the footy through so the residents could have a go and have some fun.
Mary got her daughter to donate some party pies and sausage rolls for everyone to eat which was good.
It was a fun day, i really liked it there.

Race Around Melbourne.
On the 10th of September we had to meet at the South Geelong train station to have a race around Melbourne.
We finally arrived at Southern Cross Station and get sent off to start the race.
My group and i went back on the train and went to Flinders St Station to start our first question.
We then caught the tram to the Parliament House and walked down a lane to get some answers to questions then caught the tram back to the parliament to finish the other questions for that area.
We had to walk back to the Southern Cross Station to meet up with everyone else.
Everyone met up and we got on the train to come back to Geelong.
All up it was a good day. I enjoyed myself

You Yangs.
On Friday the 16th of July the VCAL class went to the You Yangs.
There was so seats left on the big bus for me to sit in so Ms Bruscella took Amy, Avery, Bon Bon and me in the Ute.
It was fun.
When we got there we pretty started walking straight away.
A couple said it would only take about 20 minutes to walk up, but they lied.
Took like nearly hour.
It was intense. I nearly died like a million times.
When we got to the top Mr Lynch wanted to take a picture of us for proof we did it.
We finally got back to the bottom and had a bbq.
Mr Lynch swapped with Ms Bruscella and drove the Ute.
It was siiiiiick

Work Experience Day 2.
On the 31st of May i had my 2nd day of work experience.
This time Noreen showed us how to use the register and serve people.
I made a lot of the foccasias and sandwiches and some biscuits.

Work Experience.
On Monday the 26th of May i started my first day of work experience at Melting Moments Cafe.
Noreen showed us how to make all the different coffees and we made some slices and do alot of dishes.

Kalkee.
For the last couple of times we have been to Kalkee we have just been doing the footy tips and talking to the residents.
We also have recently started making cards and will be soon making bracelets and headbands and all those kinds of things.
It’s really fun .

On May 21st we went to the National Careers & Employment Expo in Melbourne.
We caught the bus up there.
We walked around for a bit to know where things are then we signed up to a few things and got some freebies.
I got my nails painted and put some icing on a cupcake.
I have some information about nails, hospitality, teaching and there was something else.
I also got taught how to change a tyre from some hot dude.
It was really fun, i can totally change tyres for the rest if my life.
After all that we got to have a lunch break, and we went to crown to have some lunch then we got back to the Expo to come home.

Kalkee.
On tuesday the 9th of March we went to Kalkee.
We got driven there by Mr Lynch .
We got put into groups and had groups of residents to go see and ask them if they wanted to do footy tipping this year.
Majority of them said yes.
I will be doing footy tipping tooo .
Avery and i took Jean for a little walk around inside. She loved it.
Also met this lady. I forgot her name, but she was cute.

Tradeshall Union.
On friday the 12th of March the VCAL class had an excursion to the Tradeshall Union.
I went with the VCAL class last year.
So i learnt pretty much the same stuff, except that if you’re on call you have to get paid for it. But not the actual wage you get paid for working.
It was good.
Also learnt some history about the Unions and stuff.

Pancake day 2010.
On the 23rd of Feb was our pancake day.
It ran pretty well as we had raised just over $300.
Amy, Avery and i made the milkshakes while Mikaela helped pour them. We did good, but we needed more milk. We could have raised heaps more money if we had more milk. And also we ran out of milkshake cups.
Overall everyone did a good job and the pancake day was a success.

On tuesday the 2nd of March we went to Kalkee. Mr Lynch drove us for the first time in forever.
Avery and i took Jean for a walk and she recited her poems to everyone. It was fun.

Pancake Day Preperation.
On Friday the 19th of Feb. Amy and i were organizing all the donation money from safeway – highton and waurn ponds.
we got everything we need except for milk and ice cream.

On the 16th of feb we went to Kalkee.
We just sat around talking because we were a bit late and the residents had to have their lunch.

First Blog of 2010.
heyyyyyy.
This is the first blog of 2010.
On Tuesday the 2nd we had to get into groups and disguss with the year 11′s what we did for pancake day last year and say what things went wrong so we can improve it this year. We decided to have it on the same day as last year on the 23rd of February.
Am looking forward to it. Amy and i want to make the milkshakes again. Hopefully we can get a few more people to help with them. .

Active Play Session.

Pancake Day.
On the 24th of Feb we had our pancake day.
Was a really fun day.
I made the milkshakes. hectic as.. we run out of icecream and milk and everything.
obviously they were good .
Overall we raised $340 selling pancakes and milkshakes.

Industry Tour.
On tuesday the 9th or June we had to meet in at the water front to go on a boat that shows you the oil rigs and shell and some massive boat.
Then we had to go to some other place (i forgot the name of it) and she showed us some slide show of geelong and shell. we had to do this quiz thing.
Was a really cold day. but it went pretty good.

Final Downball Comp.
On Tuesday the 20th of October was the final downball comp for the year 7s.
Blue girls won and purple boys won. So they will get their prize later.
There was a BBQ and milkshakes being made and sold. Amy and me made the milkshakes. it was funnnnnnnnn. There was like chocolate and strawberry flavours.
The boys did the BBQ.
We made just over $300.
WEW! i thought we did really gooood.

Downball Heat.
On Friday the 16th of October was the first downball heat.
Out of the girls red, gold, mango, and blue got into the finals. And out of the boys gold, purple, ebony, and blue.

Motorvate.
On Friday the 11th of September we had to meet at the Geelong Showgrounds.
We were just told about controlling cars and all the different tyres. We had to do a quiz.
After all that we got to go outside and some of us got taught how to drive. Was fun as!
The other people got taught how to stop when you really have to..like if someone has stopped in front of you and you hadn’t realised then yeah, all that stuff.

Gordan Institutes.
On Wednesday the 9th of September we had to get dropped of to the Gordan Institute in town.
Debbie the tour guiderer was talking to us about some tafe courses and other stuff about jobs or whatever else we needed to know then we got to have a race thing around the Gordan and find all this stuff. My team won .
Then we had to go to the other Institute thing in East Geelong? :s. Weren’t there for long. Steve which was one of the guys working there just showed us around some industry part he works in. Like cars and stuff.
We got dismissed from there. And yeahh.

Kalkee Party :D.

We organised a Footy Tipping party to announce the winners of getting the highest tips. Then we did a quiz and handed out some prizes and watched some video of all the other schools that went to Kalkee.

Waste Wise.
On Thursday the 3rd of September the VCAL class went to Waste Wise.
The lady just taught us about recycling and like using electricity appropriately.
We had to catch the bus there. And Mr Lynch said he would take us to maccas but he didnt . We caught the bus back to school and got dismissed.
Was kind of boring because ive been there once before. But went alright.

Career Expo.
On friday the 24th of july we went to the career expo in melbourne.
we caught the train there and back.
we walked around for ages looking at the same thing over and over again. was kinda boring. only wanted about 2 jobs out of the lot coz it was just all unis and stuff. amy and i signed up to some racv thing. we got free lolliepops and a pen and ipod headphones xD.
we had some free time coz there was time left. amy and i went to crown and nearly got lost by trying to find maccas. we lined up for maccas but the line was too massive so we went to kfc instead (:(:.

As soon as we got there i took Jean for a walk outside then around upstairs and downstairs inside and stuff.
Mr Lynch said he was gonna pick us up but he didn’t so we started to walk to maccas .

Kalkee.
On the 19th of May we got driven to Kalkee.
Amy and i talked to some residents for ages. Was really good.
I told Jean i would buy her a packet of lollies because she always feels bad that she never has any for us lol. She loves us coming in. She always tells us poems.
After that we got driven to Macca’s, but we wanted KFC so we went and got lunch there. We walked to Kmart to have a little look around then caught bus back to schooooool.

Amare.
On 18th of May we had two people come in to class to teach us how to present ourselves when you go to a job interview.
For the girls the lady taught us how to do our makeup. Just the foundation, blush, eyeliner, mascara, eyeshadow and lipstick.
The boys had to shave .
Was pretty good. I didn’t really like the foundation much, looked all blotchy and yuck. But it could’ve been the mirrors.
Before putting on the makeup we had to wash our face with a cleanser and then the toner then the moisturiser.
Next week they’re coming back…well i think they are. And we might be doing something else. Not too sure.

On the 12th of May we went to Kalkee.
Did the usual. Talking to the residents and did some footy tips.
After that we went to Macca’s for lunch, then looked around in Kmart, and decided to look in Purple Cow and tried on some clothes. We then walked back to school.

Tanybryn VCAL Camp.
On May 14th the VCAL class went on a camp to Tanybryn. In the morning we stopped at Macca’s for breakfast.
We caught bus/vans there. On the way we stopped at a beach and walked for a while. We had to walk over rocks. scariest thing ever !!. Then we had to walk up a massive hill to get to the car.
We then stopped at Lorne, had a lunch break, then went to a look out. Was alright.
We had a little break in Apollo Bay i think.
Then we drove straight to Tanybryn.
That night we went on a night walk and saw some glow worms. Was fun .
The next day everyone went bike riding.
When we got back we went to Macca’s to get some lunch.
To improve the camp i would organise more fun activities to do like that glow worm walk.

G-FORCE Speech.
Today we had a G-FORCE person come in to do a speech.
She told us how to do resume’s, what to do when you apply for a job and go to an interview.
Tips: Don’t chew gum, slouch, fidget.
Make sure your resume is clear and concise, not too wordy.
In your resume, make sure your most recent employment history is first.
Know what is in your resume and be able to answer any questions.
Make sure your referees are aware they are on your resume, and their details are correct. Eg: phone numbers, positions etc..
Male sure your application letter addresses the job criteria, and really sells you to the employer.
Proof-read your application and resume and ask someone else to look at it, it’s always best to find any spelling or grammer mistakes before the employer does.
If possible hand deliver your application, but ensure your presentation is immaculate.
Make sure all phone messages are professional and checked regularly. Answering machines are essential for employers to contact you!
If applying for a job make a great impression by being punctual, well presented and professional. First impressions always count.
If possible do some research on the company that you are applying for the position with.
If you are successful with an interview, take your original resume and other supporting documents. Eg: references, school, TAFE or University results or qualifications.

Camp next Thursday :D.
Next Thursday on the 14th of May we will be going to a school camp for a night . Some place called Tanybryn.
Apparently we will be surfing and riding bikes and stuff. But i’m not doing any of that .
We will be having a bbq for tinner maybe, we dont know yet.
Twill be exciting asssss. Hopefully.
LOL the teachers will be sleeping in the corridors so they can watch out for people who will be sneaking around and stuffs.
Oooo and there will be heaters in the cabins. Gooood cause the sleeping bags won’t be warm enough .
